There has been a bison carcass along the Madison River just a few miles from Madison Junction and the campground. There have been a couple of coyotes on it, and a grizzly was seen in the trees behind it. (See Rik Writer's post). The star of the show has been a lone wolf that has made several appearances, but doesn't stay real long. We were fortunate to see it twice, the first evening it came in (Thursday) and the following morning. Even with our limited equipment we got some half decent photos.
This looks like the same wolf we saw several days earlier out by Midway Geyser Basin. Theory is it's a member of the Wapiti pack, but if so, it's been spending a lot of time by itself.
