Beautiful shots, Rik...loved 'em all! The big ram has got to be close to 10 yrs old judging from his horn segments. Looks like he's got a lot of battle scars on his face, nose and, especially, around his eyes. Was he the king pin of the herd? He's one of the most regal rams I've ever seen. Great capture.....

He was with a herd on the Old Yellowstone Road down near the river.
Great photos! Looking forward to more when you get back into the park. We're heading there in a few weeks as well. Can't wait! And again, thanks so much for these photos, and all your past reports and photos.

I will. From what I've been seeing and hearing though, it seems as though I am leaving about a week too late for the good stuff.
Rik-your timing is perfect. I've been down 3 times in the past month and did not take any photos the first two trips. The bears are coming out now and the COY"s should be showing up soon. There was some bear activity Sunday on the closed road from Roosevelt up to the Falls, some photogs walking the road. The carcass just west of the Institute had lots of bear and wolf activity. Lots of snow still at Hayden, should be getting better soon
Have a great trip!.
