Worries About Fire Season

Post by karenandbill »

For those coming out to the parks later this summer, I'm concerned you may be dealing with fires and smoke. This is by far the driest we have seen the area in the last five years since we have been spending the summers here. The snow melted early and we have had very little rain or snow in June. The trails are dusty and there have been fewer wildflowers. Adding to the problem has been a hot dry wind that has blown on many days during the month. The next week is forecast to be hot and dry with record heat. We need rain badly.

It reminds me of the descriptions I read about the summer of 1988. I'm not trying to be a doomsday prophet, but just wanted to alert people to be prepared for fire restrictions and please be extra careful. Hopefully we'll see a change in the pattern and get a good soaking rain in July.
