Yellowstone and GTNP closed immediately, and indefinitely. Time to get out your old photos and reminisce and edit.

Concerning Yellowstone National Park
Question #1: What about people who need to drive back and forth between Gardiner and Cooke City?

Question #2: On a separate note . . . . what if a person:
- does not need to interact with humans
- has a valid National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass
- drives into the North Entrance (Gardiner) at 4 a.m.
- drives to the Soda Butte trailhead at Lamar Valley
- parks their vehicle, does a long day hike and returns to the trailhead
- drives back to the North Entrance at 9 p.m., exits the park and then drives back to the town where he/she lives
What would park employees do if they saw an empty personal vehicle parked at the Soda Butte trailhead?

From the park website: Effective immediately, Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks are closed to all park visitors until further notice. There will be no visitor access permitted to either park. State highways and/or roads that transcend park/state boundaries and facilities that support life safety and commerce will remain open. Both parks will cooperate on the implementation of the closures. We will notify the public when we resume full operations and provide updates on our website and social media channels.

Sigh -- I knew this was coming a while back, but it's had to swallow. Had plans for a couple of spring/early summer trips and now not certain either will happen. But OK, we'll get through this and hopefully someday soon can be back in the park.
