Trip Report May 9

Post by RikWriter »

Went east today and spent the whole day out there trying to find more grizzlies. At that, I was unsuccessful. Only grizzlies I saw were a sow and cub from a mile away in the Hayden.
But then I found a great grey owl near Fishing Bridge and spent basically the whole afternoon there.
Almost ran over a pine marten on the Norris-Mammoth road on the way back. Tried to pull over and get a shot, but it ran away.

Wow, a great grey AND a pine marten? Two on my "really want to see" list! Thanks for the daily updates -- sounds like yesterday was quite bear-y and today was one of the "neat sightings" day. Really appreciate your continued updates -- hoping to be in the park in a few weeks and it's nice to know what's going on. Wish I could be there now!

lol again. I wonder how many times we crossed paths. I spent Sunday going from mammoth to Sylvan pass and back. I got a couple of decent shots, albeit at a distance, of the great grey owl at Fishing Bridge junction that morning.
