My first day of a fairly quick trip.
I finally got a pouncing coyote, across the road from Rainy Lake. First time I've ever seen that in person, and this one pounced five times. The first two were when I was getting out of the car, then I got three more chances. One's okay, one's blurry because I jumped when she did, and one is sort of okay.
The only other thing I saw was a hawk up at the top of a pine just east of Pebble Creek. Kind of far away and shooting into a cloud with the sun behind it, but there's an image there.
Went south and found Max and his tour group at the double pullouts south of Canyon about to set off looking for the great gray owls.
Went north again, and just past Dunraven summit a crowd had been looking at a black bear with two COY. People said they'd been in the area for several days. They weren't visible when I got there.
