Best Hikes for Wildlife

Post by Stonebridge »

Happy New Year to everyone! As we all plan our visits to the Yellowstone region maybe we could share thoughts on our favorite hikes in the area.

Here are my Top 5 hikes for wildlife in no particular order:

1) Slough Creek Trail
2) Tom Miner Trail
3) Pelican Valley Trail
4) Petrified Tree Trail (Lamar Valley)
5) Taylor Fork Trail

Doubt I am qualified to make suggestions, but I saw a ton of wildlife on the Lamar River Trail in September.

Hermitage Point beyond Swan Lake and Heron Pond is GREAT in earlier summer at dusk. Burned Wagon Gulch has almost always been awesome for Black Bears. Glade Creek has also treated me quite well many times. There's a bunch of reasons Grand Teton was rated the number one place on the continent to observe and photograph wildlife not that many years ago.
