Looks like a young adult, maybe 3 years old??? My favorite bird of prey. I love watching them fly.
Thanks for the photos! Brings back memories of playing golf on a course in Southern California that bordered a wild undeveloped area. I saw two red tailed hawks screaming and dive bombing as I was making my way to a green at the back of the course. As I got closer, I saw 3 goldens fly up from the ground with one carrying a squirrel in its talon. As the hawks made another attack the one with the squirrel flipped in the air and exposed its one free talon towards the diving hawks. That hooked me on goldens!
