First off I would like to say a hearty hello to everyone,I have not been to the park since April of 21 and I am planning on heading up mid April. When I went to the Recreation.gov site it appears they have dropped taking reservation at Mammoth, don't know if this is flood related or how terrible the whole thing worked the first year. When I looked at the NPS web page it looks like the campground is not open at the moment even though it is the only all year camp.
Anybody know or hear rumors about Mammoth being open and when, and do I need a reservation after May 1 2023 ?
I'll sign off with a wolf from my last visit

Mammoth Campground ?
Re: Mammoth Campground ?
As far as I know, Mammoth is currently closed and isn't slated to reopen until May at the earliest and maybe not even then. The problem is the sewer system, which was damaged by the flooding.
Re: Mammoth Campground ?
Thank's Rick,I guess that Madison will be the only in park option for the spring
Re: Mammoth Campground ?
Yeah, at least until Bridge Bay campground opens, which should be late May I think. The RV Park in Gardiner has a few tent sites, though.
Re: Mammoth Campground ?
Do you if Yankee Jim was or is damaged ? maybe uphill toward Jardine might be best bet if I could nab a spot, might be crowded at these spots if Mammoth doesn't open or opens late. The thought of driving one thousand miles and have to scramble for a spot is making me second guess this trip.
Re: Mammoth Campground ?
The campground in Jardine is open AFAIK. The Tom Minor bridge is still out unless they repaired it since February.Mike wrote: ↑Sat Apr 01, 2023 8:17 pmDo you if Yankee Jim was or is damaged ? maybe uphill toward Jardine might be best bet if I could nab a spot, might be crowded at these spots if Mammoth doesn't open or opens late. The thought of driving one thousand miles and have to scramble for a spot is making me second guess this trip.
