Shots from Sax-Zim Bog

Post by RikWriter »

Went to Superior, WS, the North Shore of Lake Superior in MN and then to Sax-Zim Bog to find some owls and other critters to photograph. Spent a week in the sub-zero weather and this is what I found.

Rik, you continue to amaze with your great shots! That must have taken a lot of patience to get those shots in the cold. How did you get the bobcat to cooperate so well? were you in a blind?

That GGO shot flying straight at you is amazing!! That has to be a photo contest winner.

What species was the smaller owl? Saw-whet maybe? Cool that you got to see a snowy.

Anyway thanks again for taking the time to post these fantastic photos.

No blinds, just driving and walking.
The bobcat was young and was walking between four sets of woods separated by an intersection, so he would go up and down the gravel roads until he found a path through the trees, which gave us a chance to catch him on the way in.
The first species of smaller owl, the one up in the trees, is a boreal. The second, the one down in the bushes, is a saw-whet.
