Rik, you continue to amaze with your great shots! That must have taken a lot of patience to get those shots in the cold. How did you get the bobcat to cooperate so well? were you in a blind?

What species was the smaller owl? Saw-whet maybe?

No blinds, just driving and walking.
The bobcat was young and was walking between four sets of woods separated by an intersection, so he would go up and down the gravel roads until he found a path through the trees, which gave us a chance to catch him on the way in.
The first species of smaller owl, the one up in the trees, is a boreal. The second, the one down in the bushes, is a saw-whet.
