There is only one Wonderland, but let's also talk about and share photos of other national parks.

I've got a Canon 5D3 and a 7D. I also have several older Pearstone LP-E6 batteries that I can use with either camera and a Pearstone AC/DC battery charger that I've used for several years to charge the Pearstone batteries in my vehicle/trailer. Since I'd Iike to replace the Pearstone batteries because they're getting some age on them now(just like me ), does anyone know if the current STK LP-E6 batteries (available for $13.99 from Amazon) are compatible with the Pearstone LP-E6 AC/DC charger? Or should I lay to rest all my Pearstone gear and buy some new STK batteries and the STK AC/DC LP-E6 battery charger that comes with a car adapter? Thanks a bunch for your help! Seems to me that it might be worth the risk to try the STK brand because they're so much cheaper than Canon ($13.99 vs $60+. Does anyone have any experience with the STK LP-E6 batteries? I've read a few reports from people who said that the STK batteries don't seem to hold a charge for very long. Wasn't sure if that was true or not. I've got twoof them that are over a year old and have never had a problem. But times change as does product quality. So I thought I'd check with the 5D and 7D users to see if you have used the STK LP-E6 replacement batteries and if you've ever had a problem with them. Thanks for your feedback!
I use a canon 5D3 and had done so far many years, good camera. I only use original Canon batteries in my stuff, Yes they are expensive but I never have a problem and they always last all day and have for many years... That is all I can say, shop around get the best price....
I have used the STK LP-E6 batteries in My 70D,7D,7DM2 for the last 5 years with no problems at all. I have charged them in an STK charger and a Canon charger. I also have used a Watson LP-E6N battery in my 5DM4 that came as a spare from B&H. In the 5 years using STK LP-E6 batteries I had one that would not hold a charge, STK replaced it asap for free with free shipping via Amazon.
Loonphotog, I charged one of my STK batteries early yesterday morning. I bought 2 new ones in June 2017. Took a walk along the River to photograph some geese after the battery was fully charged. And my 5D3 ran great. However, I just checked the battery again (less than 24 hrs later)and now it's almost dead. So it looks like the STK batteries do not hold a charge as well as the Canon batteries. I'm going to check to see if my 12V Pearstone AC/DC charger will charge the STK battery. If it works and the battery will hold a charge, then I'm in hog heaven : But if it doesn't work or the battery won't hold a charge for more than a day or two, then I'll go to Plan B. Considering the STK batteries are so inexpensive, I think might buy another 2 or 3 new STK batteries, the STK AC/DC charger with the 12V car adapter and another Canon battery to play it safe this year. I'll also give STK a call to see if they'll send me 2 new replacement batteries since the ones I have, should still be under warranty. Thanks for your feedback. Suffice to say, I learned my lesson. I've been a loyal Canon user since 1998. Wouldn't ya know that the minute I tried to save some bucks by buying a different brand battery, I'd get bit in the you know where. Guess I'm just happy that I learned my lesson now... BEFORE my upcoming 2018 Yellowstone trips.
I hear ya! I've got 4 cameras that I use and a camera bag that's used exclusively for storing the different camera batteries and chargers. The two reasons why I bought my FTC passenger wagon (van) back in 2011 was because it seemed like the perfect vehicle for a solo Yellowstone camping photographer...the van got great mileage (30+ mpg), I could shoot pix from the cargo area when the weather was lousy and best part, the van had two 12-volt outlets, one up front and one in the rear cargo area. I can't begin to tell you what a time and life saver those 12v outlets have been over the years. My little van has made my photography trips to the Park so much more enjoyable and productive. I can sleep in it, I can drive all over the Park at minimal expense and I can charge camera batteries at any time, day or night. My cameras are always ready to fire and I never have to worry about finding a location with power to charge batteries. After seven years, I still love my little van with the 12V outlets. For me, it was the best purchase I ever made.
