Re: Mammoth CG and RVs

During the summer, you probably won't have a problem at Mammoth because it has a number of pull-thru sites that are 65' long. Re: Mammoth CG and RVs

Thank you for the reply,I 'll be there on April 19th so the only loop open is the first loop( I believe that they open the rest of the camp/loop on May 1st)and with it being "west entrance opening week" and Easter weekend I expect that the camp will fill up just as it did last year at that time. Spring is here and so are the grizzly bears, yesterday was the first sighting of a bear, somewhere between Lake and Canyon and some sign over at Norris. This gets my blood flowing just knowing that a trip in the park is very close for myself. Re: Your thoughts on Campsites near Lamar Valley

Here is my old truck that was really good set up,it had a pass through door that made it much easier to enter and exit,it also had a carpet kit with storage boxes along the side.I also benefited from a mid rise shell and a 8' bed https://pbase.com/mcwilliams/image/168536169.jpg https://pbase.com/mcw...

Re: Your thoughts on Campsites near Lamar Valley

Dave,I was in the same situation, tent camper for 50 years and then the legs went out on me.So I fixed up my truck and camp out of that.I have a shell and a "Sportsmen" carpet kit. This type of set up is great for dispersed camping, short overnight stays, and even long stays.Everything is in storage box...

Re: Your thoughts on Campsites near Lamar Valley

Are you tent camping or RV/Trailer camping ? I personally think your going to spend too much time moving to new camp, setting up camp, taking down camp, checking in,these take up a lot more time that could be activity time.I would find a camp in the Northern Range like Pebble,Slough,Tower for some good...

Re: New member intro

Hi Tom and welcome,I am a solo traveler also and there are a few things that you can do to make your trip safe.First off take a minute to post a note on the inside of your car listing how many in your hiking party and where you are going and when you should return. If rangers see a car parked unatten...
