Does this board software automatically size a photo to 800 pixels wide or do we have to make sure the linked photo will not blow out the margins on the page ?

For Flicker open the photo,at the bottom there is a share icon in the lower right(up right arrow icon) click on that and in the dialog box choose BBB and set the size then just copy and paste into your post.
