Re: March Trip to Southern Utah

Lol, you went there at a great time! We made the mistake of visiting Arches NP one time in the summer and it was 95 degrees! So, we decided to head north. It was hot until we passed the Idaho border and then the temp dropped into the 70s and it was just wonderful.

Re: Harriman and Henry's Lake Idaho

It's great to hear that Montana will open before I would be able to get to the area. I've been checking out Harriman SP online. Looks interesting, and I've always wanted to check out the nearby Fish Creek Road.

Re: Harriman and Henry's Lake Idaho

Wow, those are some great sightings (and photos). Sounds like so much fun. Is Idaho allowing people to come in and visit? We are trying to figure out what to do if the Montana entrances don't open in time -- you've mentioned Henry's Lake before and it sounds like fun to perhaps try there. Anyway, s...

I had the same problems. I was finally able last week to reset my password and retain my user name.

Re: Yellowstone to (Partially) Reopen on May 18

Thanks for the info! I wonder what the reason is for not opening the north entrance? That's the entrance I like to use for wildlife viewing.

Never mind, I see the reason in your other post on reopening the park.

Missing April posts?

Hi, I'm just wondering what happened to some of the posts from April. I had made a post here about how the animals might respond to the lack of humans in the park. There were replies to the post, but now it doesn't seem to exist here. Also, I've had a heck of a time getting logged in. Anybody know w...

Re: Thoughts on third week of Sept for YNP, Bozeman, Big Sky?

It could be fine or it could be a mess. We were just out there and had two days of snow and three days of decent weather. I'd be really careful without 4-wheel drive, especially if you are going off the main road. Have you thought about renting a 4WD vehicle? At this time of year you can usually ge...

Re: Polarizer use in photography

Thanks, great pic. The problem I have sometimes had when using my polarizing filter is that it often darkens the whole image too much, even when I try to compensate the exposure for that. It also will cause a longer exposure unless I change iso, so I also have to take that into account.

Re: Thoughts on third week of Sept for YNP, Bozeman, Big Sky?

You may have snow, obviously, but with the exception of a huge snowstorm, accumulation is still fairly low. The northern road should still be drivable without four wheel drive, keeping in mind that they still break out the snow plows if there's a big storm anyway. Take it slow in colder conditions ...
