Re: Wolves Take Down Bison; Lamar Valley Open Oct. 15

Glad you got to see the grizzlies. We will head out to see if we can find Raspberry and Jam once the weather clears.

Wolves Take Down Bison; Lamar Valley Open Oct. 15

Headed for Lamar bright and early today to be one of the first to check out the repairs after the flood and see what wildlife might be visible. Well, we didn't make it to Lamar until the afternoon. Just past the Specimen Ridge Trailhead and before Little America, there were some cars off the road an...

Re: Very short early August trip

Sounds like you had a great trip! Isn't it neat the way the parks always seem to give you "something". August is typically not a great month for wildlife at least for us, but glad you were able to see those two very elusive creatures. It took us years to see them both as well, and they are still a r...

Re: Bear Jams in the Chicago Tribune

Yeah, agree totally. Maybe coincidence, but since the pandemic started, the rangers seem to be a bit more laid back. I also enjoy many of the international visitors (some are obnoxious, but so are some from the US). But they need to pay their fair share. You're probably right about the orientation. ...

Wow, great shots! Don't you just love those claws? He looks to be quite old to me, reminds me a little bit of Scarface in his later years. Thanks for posting. You and Rik get such great photos.

Re: Bear Jams in the Chicago Tribune

Yada Yada Yada, talk about a shallow editorial. Bear jams are nothing now, bison to me seem to cause more and will sometimes just hang out in the road for extended periods of time, which is ok, it's their park and home. Yes, a rather simple take on a very complex problem. Characterizing that the so...

Re: A few Raptors

I love the owl shots, especially the one with the head turned. The turkey vultures are expanding north. I remember when we would never see one in the park. They are now becoming fairly common. I'm not thrilled to have them competing with the other carrion feeders. Not exactly sure why, but it has al...

Re: Sub-adult male grizzly - April 2022

It's with tremendous sadness I post these pictures of this young male sub-adult grizzly. He was such a beautiful and well-mannered bear that brought smiles and joy to many park visitors in the early Spring of 2022. He was often found digging in the ground in the northwest side of the park near Obsi...
