Glad you got to see so many of the bears. Sorry you missed the wolves, but that gives you a reason to come back! Thanks for sharing.

Re: Shots from my May trip
Rik, Once again, you have captured the essence of Yellowstone wildlife that just amazes us. What terrific Photos! I love them all, but the one of the Obsidian cub resting its paws (and claws!) on its mother's back is my favorite, if I had to pick one. But I don't so I will just continue to enjoy the...

Nice that you were able to help some people get a better look. That is one of the many fun parts of the park, helping first-timers see some animals and sharing in their excitement. Hope your trip continues to be successful.

Bears, Badger, and Bill's Birds are Back--Early May
We made several trips into the parks in early May. We were able to see wolves every time, but they were the Junction Buttes and usually a long distance out. They have a den at the original sight by Slough Creek and we were able to see several of the pups. There was a carcass in Lamar (see Rik Writer...

Re: Trip Report May 8
Sounds like you had a great day! We just stayed close to home. I fed my birds and had finches, pine siskins and chickadees. Did take a drive around the lake and saw lots of pelicans, ducks, a muskrat, several hawks, and 8 bald eagles. We then drove out to big springs with nothing there, but we did s...

Wildlife on the Trails Harriman St Park and Yellowstone
We thoroughly enjoy seeing the wildlife as we drive the roads in and around Yellowstone/Grand Teton and Island Park. But when we hike a trail and see wildlife, it adds something a little extra for us. It's hard to explain, but there is a feeling of oneness with nature out on the trail that you don't...

Re: Trip Report May 7
Rik, Great video! Thanks for sharing. Was that taken with your new camera? Great to meet you as well. We were thinking of going to Lamar today but the weather caused us to hold off. If you go to Hayden, the bears were to the west, one before Grizzly Overlook and one after down by the restroom. That ...

Glad you were able to see the wolf. We just missed a wolf as we drove out along the Madison. At least that is what people told us. It could have been as the carcass was nearby. Saw 2 grizzlies in Hayden but they were pretty far out so you didn't miss much there.
Good luck on the rest of your trip.

Re: Bill's Backyard Birds
Wow what a wonderful variety of birds you guys have visiting your back yard !!! I can only imagine how wonderful it must be. We do really enjoy the birds and living in this area. We bought this place just to be close to Yellowstone not realizing how great this whole area is! Unfortunately, it has b...

Lone Wolf Along the Madison April 29, 30
There has been a bison carcass along the Madison River just a few miles from Madison Junction and the campground. There have been a couple of coyotes on it, and a grizzly was seen in the trees behind it. (See Rik Writer's post). The star of the show has been a lone wolf that has made several appeara...
