Like you, I think this will have devastating effects on the grizzly population. It will take a few years, but I think we will be back to where we were in the 70's and start the cycle all over again.

Re: Hunting Park Grizzlies
"I'm not trying to be preachy or a posterior orifice either but the issues of boars vs. sows with cubs and the hysteria over delisting aside why is a Bear or Wolf on Nationnal Forest Lands close to the parks more entitled to refuge than bears on the same National Forest but further from Park bounda...

Hunting Park Grizzlies
Does anyone know the latest info on allowing grizzlies to be hunted outside the parks? I was just in the Tetons mid-October and had the privilege of watching 399 and her two cubs just being bears for nearly an hour. They were at a location near the park/national forest border boundary and it got me ...

Thanks for the report. I'll bet the snow was beautiful, but it does create some challenges for wildlife viewing.

Re: October 2017 Current conditions
We were there last weekend (Oct 5-7) and were treated to a great view of the Hayden wolfpack. Saw at least 11 of the pack in South Hayden on Thursday. Went back on Saturday but all was quiet. Just missed a bear in the trees near Slough Creek. Conflicting reports whether black or Griz, but from the l...

Re: September 2 - 4: Hayden Valley to Beartooth
Andrew, we were there the evening of your first video. It was neat to watch the second bear approach from across the valley, swim the river and get close to the carcass while the darker bear slept away. What was really funny was the reaction of the crowd. At one point before before the second bear s...

Re: New Trail & Overlook Protect Yellowstone's Resources
We hiked the trail just after it opened. Kind of hot without much shade during the midday, but other than that it has a great view of Grand Prismatic, well worth the hike. It is just under a mile, nice and wide, with a gradual climb.

Re: Excited about upcoming trip!
Depending on the way you are coming in, there are several places to look for wild horses. Last winter we saw some off Hwy 191 just north of Rock Springs. I doubt if they will be close to the highway this time of year but there is a gravel road that you can take back into the range. I've seen a sign ...

Re: Excited for our trip in 2 weeks (Aug. 23)
We were out there a couple of weeks ago and Route 20 was fine between St. Anthony and the west entrance. There was a little construction around St. Anthony but it really didn't slow us down that much. Could be different now. As mentioned above, avoid the road between Mammoth and Norris. There is a s...
