Trip Report May 11

Went out to the Lamar early. Got some shots of Junction Butte wolf 1229F coming off a carcass with a big chunk of meat in her mouth before the Wolf Project Stasi shut down the overlooking hill. Also got a bald eagle and a coyote on the carcass. Spent a lot of time at Slough Creek looking for badgers...

Trip Report May 10

Started out early and drove east. Went all the way to the East Entrance, then went back and forth between Otter Creek and Bridge Bay, keeping an eye on Fishing Bridge and parking there for an hour or so at a time on and off, waiting for the owl to come back, and saw nothing all day long except a gri...

Trip Report May 9

Went east today and spent the whole day out there trying to find more grizzlies. At that, I was unsuccessful. Only grizzlies I saw were a sow and cub from a mile away in the Hayden. But then I found a great grey owl near Fishing Bridge and spent basically the whole afternoon there. Almost ran over a...

Trip Report May 8

Day started slow. I wasn't feeling great in the morning, so I slept in and didn't head into the park until 9:30AM. Went to the Lamar first because it was snowing and I knew it would be snowing harder the further east I went. Out near the Buffalo Institute, I saw a grizzly sow with two yearling cubs ...

Re: Trip Report May 7

Rik, Great video! Thanks for sharing. Was that taken with your new camera? Great to meet you as well. We were thinking of going to Lamar today but the weather caused us to hold off. If you go to Hayden, the bears were to the west, one before Grizzly Overlook and one after down by the restroom. That...

Re: Trip Report May 7

Glad you were able to see the wolf. We just missed a wolf as we drove out along the Madison. At least that is what people told us. It could have been as the carcass was nearby. Saw 2 grizzlies in Hayden but they were pretty far out so you didn't miss much there. Good luck on the rest of your trip. ...

Trip Report May 7

The road through the Hayden down to Bridge Bay opened today and I went in. Waste of time, except of course that I got to meet karenandbill at Grizzly Overlook, which was very cool. Other than that, there was NOTHING there, barely even any bison. I drove all the way to the Pahaska Teepee and ate lunc...

Trip Report May 6

I spent the whole day on the carcass out at Dorothy's and was rewarded by at least three and possibly four wolves from the Junction Butte pack, four different coyotes and a bald eagle. Someone wearing a road vest tried to haze the wolves by running after one of them and spraying paintballs at it. I ...
