Does anyone have any knowledge or experience about dispersed camping around Cooke City? I will be in the area before the FS campgrounds open and would like to be as close to Lamar Valley as possible. I do have a hard sided camper.

Split it 5 YNP 2 GTNP or 4/3. Yellowstone is really big and you can spend all the time you want to there. The Tetons are great also but just not as many roads. Thanks Yellvet, I guess I didn't make it too clear. I always do find a campsite as soon as I get in the area I'm exploring. I agree, it would be nerve wrecking to wait very late with no place to hang my hat.
