Re: NPS Campgrounds

I know that Mammoth, Madison, and Bridge Bay are open. Not sure about any others. With the spike going on in Idaho and Montana, they may hold off opening others.

Re: Wolves in New Location June 28

Awesome! Any idea which pack it was? No way to know for sure as neither one was collared. I actually asked Rick McIntyre as he was out watching the Junction Buttes at the same time we were, and his best guess is it was the Wapitis. But as you know, the Wapitis have been very active in Hayden this y...

Wolves in New Location June 28

We made a snap decision to go into the park on Sunday morning to hopefully see the Junction Buttes on a bison carcass. We debated going because it would be mid morning by the time we got there and rain was in the forecast. We decided to go ahead and ended up having one of our best experiences with w...

3 Wolfpack Week June 20 and 25

While the Junction Butte pups have eluded us this year, we are still seeing wolves. We went into Hayden on Saturday evening, June 20. On the way in we saw a mountain goat near Beryl Spring which was a surprise. Once in Hayden we made a couple of trips up and down the valley without much success. Elk...

Glad you were able to get going again. I've hit tires a couple of times and it's never been good. Hope the rest of the trip goes well.

Re: Yellowstone & Tetons June 8-13

at Sheepeater turnoff there are a bunch of cars stopped all over that road. Of course we have to join them. There is a big Grizzly Bear sow with two little cubs. She has beautiful brown coloring and is crossing the road back and forth. We were there also! :o There was no way to know, but it would h...

Grizzlies at Mammoth June 18

We went into the park today and once again, the Junction Butte pups eluded us. On the way to Lamar we did see a very large black bear heading toward the trail at Wraith Falls. Nobody at the trailhead yet so we moved on. We headed to Slough Creek to look at the den site and nothing was happening. The...

Re: Mike Enzi op-ed on raising NP entrance fees

Absolutely! Raise the fees for the foreign tourists. Our taxes help subsidize the parks so its only fair that they pay higher fees than we do. When I go to Canadian parks, I don't mind paying a higher fee for the same reason. Also, with so many of the parks getting overcrowded, it may be a way to ke...
