No on camera traps. Too Big-Brother like.

I hate the traps also but I'm not sure how else you can slow people down without Rangers and radar guns. I will never understand the need for speed in a place like Yellowstone.

We spent the weekend in the Tetons in search of 399 and her cubs but unfortunately missed them. We did see the siblings just south of Pilgrim Creek on Saturday and just missed 610 at Oxbow bend. Mosquitoes were voracious in some areas but tolerable while camping at Signal CG. http://live.staticflick...

Re: Mike Enzi op-ed on raising NP entrance fees

I also agree to raise the International tourist fees. When I visit the South African National Parks I pay 4.5 times the entry fee of a South African national and don't mind at all knowing I am helping these Parks survive for future generations. In addition to raising fees how about some camera traps...

Pryor Mountain Mustangs and Bighorn Canyon

With the Montana Yellowstone gates still closed we took a weekend to look for the wild horses and do some exploring. The red rock reminded me of southern Utah and the Bighorn Canyon geologic structure is very impressive. This summer is looking like a good time to really explore some nooks and crannie...

Re: March Trip to Southern Utah

Dorothy-you are very lucky to have all those Parks nearby. We always made summer mountain bike trips to Moab so it was nice exploring a new areas. And yes the slot canyons command respect and attention to the weather. We had hiked Little Wildhorse Canyon where the 2 girls tragically died recently an...

Re: Harriman and Henry's Lake Idaho

I called hotels in Driggs, Rexburg, and Idaho Falls yesterday. They all said that Idaho was open to visitors and that some restaurants were opening up, but I imagine it may be patchy. Montana is out of the question until they drop their 14 day quarantine requirement for visitors. Montana is lifting...

March Trip to Southern Utah

The southwest has always been a very special place for me so my wife and I did a spring break trip down to Capitol Reef, San Rafael Swell and Goblin Valley. What a majestic area with stunning hikes and slot canyons! http://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49696493647_9629a3db87_c.jpg Utah 1-6284 by john ...
