Re: Montana initiates mandatory quarantine for all non-work-related visitors

Thanks for the updates. In a couple of weeks we are planning to go to our place in Idaho for the summer. Hopefully, we can still get through.

Re: New Photos: Yellowstone Winter 2020 Wildlife & Scenery

Winter is the only time of year I enjoy visiting Norris Geyser Basin. The thermophilic algae there really pops at this time of year I have not been a huge fan of Norris at least as compared to some other areas of the park. But your photos have me really wanting to visit in the winter! Great shots. ...

Thanks for posting the article. Looks like the balance of power is shifting away from preservation quite rapidly. Economic gain is above all other considerations.

Max, So cool you got to see the lynx. Those are some really great shots! I also like the bald eagle with Mt. Shasta in the background. And the GGO's are always a hit. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Cave Falls in early June.

Hi, We have been to Cave Falls early in the season. I can't remember exactly when, but I believe it was early-middle June. The road was pretty good most of the way. There were a few places where there was some mud/standing water, but we were able to navigate through ok. You will have to monitior the...

Re: Mary Mountain Trail and Violet Hot Springs - August 11, 2019

Thanks, Scatman. We did 13 miles to Sheep Lake and back near the Continental Divide Trail in the National Forest (Custer Gallatin I believe). So it was a fairly strenuous hike. I believe we could do the Mary Mountain Trail, but I might have to convince Karen :) . Thanks for the tips on the following...

Re: Snowy Owl!!!

Thanks, Dorothy.

The snow geese can be quite spectacular. I assume there were some of the blue-geese hybrids and subspecies mixed in. Were there any eagles hanging around? They will often follow the flocks during migration.

Re: Snowy Owl!!!

Yellvet, I did not realize that the snowys went that far south in the US. I know you have some beautiful hummingbirds in that area. Enjoy the warmth! We will be heading out to Idaho in a few weeks to shovel snow off our deck. We will head into the parks for a day or two if weather permits. We'll giv...

Max, Great for you and your clients. Nice that you were able to make something productive out of an airline delay.

Snowy Owl!!!

I just had to share that Karen and I spotted our first smowy owl ever in January. Though technically not in a park, we wanted to share that we have actually seen this beautiful species. This is in the area where Karen grew up. We were staying with family as she was volunteering to teach an ESL class...
