Re: Early May trip
Anyone have any updates on animal sightings in last two weeks? We are due to arrive July 11. Thank you. Just posted a quick trip report from last week. In July animal sightings can slow down a bit, but they still are there. Hopefully, you get to see lots of good stuff, but no matter what the park i...

Trip Report June 22-28
I just saw a post asking for the latest animal sightings in the parks so I thought I would give a quick update of our trip to our place by Henry's Lake. Our son and soon-to-be daughter-in-law came out from Michigan for a visit so we had to take them into the parks several days. In Grand Teton we saw...

Re: Thoughts on third week of Sept for YNP, Bozeman, Big Sky?
I have traveled Hwy 191 a number of times but have not done much exploring off the highway. I have seen a bighorn ram, deer, elk, and a moose along 191 but that has been it. In my experience on the forest service roads in other areas around the park, it is really tough to see animals. It does happen...

Re: Felicia's Fate: The Trials of a Grizzly Bear Mom
Jeff, Thank you for posting the article. Very well-written and informative, confirming many of my thoughts and concerns about the long-term situation with the bears (and also the wolves). I give British Columbia some credit for simply outlawing the hunting of grizzly Bears on philosophical grounds o...

Re: Bear (mis)Management in Yellowstone
Yellvet, it looks like I can post now. Thanks again for your response. I don't think the issues I referred to are due to the intern rangers. The one I saw with Snow seemed to be confident and took charge of the situation. I had no problem with how she handled things until she and the other ranger ha...

Great shots, Nikon! When and where were these taken? Also, could you give me more details about Felicia? Have not heard of her before. Is she the sow with the coy just outside the park heading up toward Togwottee? Thanks.

Re: Bear (mis)Management in Yellowstone
Yellvet, thanks for your reply. I've been having problems posting my response on this forum. Maybe because I'm traveling in Canada. I try again when I'm back in the states.

Bear (mis)Management in Yellowstone
What's going on with the way rangers are dealing with bears near the roads in Yellowstone? First there was the Obsidian sow with triplets in May. They closed off all the pullouts and I was told by someone that rangers harassed her away. When I asked about it at the Mammoth Visitors Center, the range...
