Re: Yellowstone? I've done it all.

but I was disappointed at his attitude. I mean it's his job to know this stuff and he either didn't or didn't want to bother. We have had similar experiences with some of the rangers. That said, I guess about 1/3 of the rangers were very helpful, 1/3 were so-so, and 1/3 were not interested or just ...

Re: Two college wrestlers shed hunting near Cody attacked by a grizz

Yes, a very brave young man indeed. According to our local newspaper the bear attacked Cummings twice, the second time came after he called out to see if his friend was ok. After initially fighting the bear, Cummings realized those efforts were futile. Fortunately, after lying still the bear left on...

Wolves Take Down Bison; Lamar Valley Open Oct. 15

Headed for Lamar bright and early today to be one of the first to check out the repairs after the flood and see what wildlife might be visible. Well, we didn't make it to Lamar until the afternoon. Just past the Specimen Ridge Trailhead and before Little America, there were some cars off the road an...

Re: Very short early August trip

Sounds like you had a great trip! Isn't it neat the way the parks always seem to give you "something". August is typically not a great month for wildlife at least for us, but glad you were able to see those two very elusive creatures. It took us years to see them both as well, and they are still a r...

Wow, great shots! Don't you just love those claws? He looks to be quite old to me, reminds me a little bit of Scarface in his later years. Thanks for posting. You and Rik get such great photos.

Re: Bear Jams in the Chicago Tribune

Yada Yada Yada, talk about a shallow editorial. Bear jams are nothing now, bison to me seem to cause more and will sometimes just hang out in the road for extended periods of time, which is ok, it's their park and home. Yes, a rather simple take on a very complex problem. Characterizing that the so...
